The doll pictured here is "THE ORIGINAL HITTY", the actual, antique wooden doll that was owned by Rachel Field and it was this doll which inspired her to write her Newbery Award winning book, "Hitty Her First Hundred Years" in 1929. Also Dorothy Lathrop drew each of the book's illustrations while studying the form and features of this particular doll.
