she also loves to travel with her owners Hitty traveled all over the world in the book. During her long life and adventures, Hitty met or was owned by a lot people and she was treated to gifts and travel souvenirs from most ofher travels. Many of these adventures were a direct result of being brought along for company as a companion ("travel doll"). You can consider your Hitty to be a "travel doll". She can keep you company on your travels and she should acquire her own set of travel mementos. This is one of the fun aspects of owning a Hitty! This doll could become especially valuable for a young person for whom she could acquire a life-time of memories and mementos. NOTE: The editor of the Friends Of Hitty Newsletter invites you to submit photos and a story about your Hitty's travels |
Lotz A10 Hitty "Little Lost Lotz Hitty" |
"Little
Lost Lotz Hitty", please come home!
A10 is lost in the mail! Jean and her intended owner are hopeful that she will tire of her adventures and make her way back home. She is welcome to travel to either house. We are both looking and hoping to find her! Jean asked the US Postal Service to check in their dreaded "Dead Letter File", but Hitty wasn't found. We know how tempting it is to look inside a package - even if it is addressed to go elsewhere. We hope that she is appreciated by whomever finds her and that they don't just think that she is just a "silly, ugly, wooden doll" and throw her away or worse - use her for fancy firewood! Perhaps a lonely child will find her and love her for a long time! |
Jean Lotz and "Sewing Hitty" have hiked many of the wonderful trails in the Smoky Mountain region of Tennesee and the "Garden of the Gods" Park in Colorado Springs, CO. Sewing Hitty also wandered about in New Orleans, LA during the recent ODACA and UFDC functions. We also met a lot of Hitty lovers and their travel Hitty dolls during the 10/98 Sirocco Hitty luncheon in Williamsburg, VA.

An early photo of Hitty Lotzalove Sevashteen (before her coral necklace was complete) photo by Jean Lotz |
"Hitty
Lotzalove Sevashteen" is Andrew Tabbat's Hitty. She is getting famous as
the "little wooden doll in Andrew's pocket".
Hitty Lotzalove Sevashteen (A17) was one of 3 Hitty dolls which I carved from a particularly dark, hard piece of white ash wood. I wanted these Hitty dolls to look like extremely old dolls who might have actually lived through all of the harrowing experiences in the Hitty book. The under paint was extremely distressed, but the facial features were clearly painted. Sevashteen's facial features are now almost worn off through natural wear even after a repaint because she lives a VERY active and exciting life riding around the world in Andrew Tabbat's pocket or tucked into the brim of his hat.

Andrew's
Hitty Lotzalove Sevashteen is spoiled rotten! She is a world traveller
who often attends fabulous social functions. As such, Andrew felt she needed
an appropriately grand wardrobe - fit for a queen!
Sevashteen has travelled or will be travelling to Kenya on an African safari, Canada, Czech Republic (Prague) for a very grand gala, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Turkey (Istanbul), Spain, and many more. As well she travels to several exciting states and cities in the US: California, Illinois, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Washington, and etc. Andrew set up several Internet photo albums to share even more of his fabulous Hitty photos. Tabbat is an authority on Raggedy Ann. He travels to many doll functions,
often as a guest speaker. He has written several books and magazine articles
about Raggedy Ann and Andy. Lately he has been traveling to these functions
with a little wooden doll in his pocket - a white ash Hitty by Jean Lotz.
Andrew and Hitty have also been invited to functions celebrating other famous characters: "Little Prince", "Alice in Wonderland" and Becassine. The
